7 Quickest Ways to Start Marketing your Website

Following are 10 of the quickest ways to start marketing your website online. Yes, they do cost money but to be perfectly honest with you there is no way around this. It is just the way it is in the digital space in 2015.

ONE:  Be Proactive with your Social Media

Everyone is using social media. Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter. LinkedIn or Instagram, activity on all social media platforms is now considered a must for business. Even if you have never done this before or you are just dipping your toes in the water for the first time, social media marketing (however small initially) will start to attract new eyes on your website. I know it’s hard, and in many cases a lot of small businesses simply do not have the time to be active in this space, but you should be posting something regularly about your business.  When it comes to engaging with the public through these social platforms, make sure you do not post random, silly articles or tweets. Be professional, put some thought into it and you will fine that over time (yes this does take time) you will start to get a bit of a following. Always try to be relevant with your posts and lead them back to something related to a product or service offering you have. Got a Xmas special? Put it on Facebook. Thinking about a giveaway? Why not tweet about it. Have a great new product shot that looks absolutely stunning? Put this on Instagram?

If you are unclear about how social media can work for your business, it’s best to get in touch with people that have experience in this field like us at Hopping Mad Designs.

TWO:  Email Marketing Campaigns

People hate receiving ‘spammy’ emails. We get them daily and I can tell you I hate them. But, if you are able to collect information from people who have visited your website and you are able to target email them ( obviously with an unsubscribe option) – this is a great way to reach out to people. Yes a percentage of people may hate them but for those that accept these, the return on investment is huge. There are heaps of these types of email platforms out there ( they are even free), so start thinking about a daily, weekly or even monthly email campaign. If people like what you have to offer, then the conversion rates on these campaigns are HUGE – this is what it’s al about and this is what is going to bring in the dollars.

I you would like help setting this up please speak to us and we can implement a email marketing system up for you. We are great with platforms like Mailchimp and Salesforce.

THREE:  SEO or (Search Engine Optimisation)

This is the big one. Every business needs SEO and if you haven’t thought about starting a campaign then you need to really get going on this. SEO benefits all businesses as they all want to rank on Google to get customers. Why? Because Google is the only place people look when searching for a product or service. If you business is not there when they are searching then guess what? You loose out big time.

Get proactive today and start your research on getting an SEO company to help you with this. NEVER have a DIY approach to your SEO as this needs to be handles by people that are skilled with Google’s latest changes. It is not as easy as it looks and there are many pitfalls and dangers when working with an SEO company. Choose wisely as going with the wrong team will spell certain death for your online marketing. SEO is the king of all your internet marketing so if you are unclear – speak to me Steven and I will tell you all there is to know about SEO and how it can help you make money.

FOUR:  Google Adwords

If you do not have the time to wait for you natural organic SEO ranking to happen, Adwords is an alternative. This is the way Google makes it’s money and most people end up doing some form of Adwords or PPC campaign during the lifetime of their website. Essentially, Adwords is what you see on the right hand side and the top 3 results of the search page on Google. The most you bid per click the higher you go. Oh yes…watch you money go as well as Adwords can be ( for competitive keyword searches) frightfully expensive. I am talking up to $100 per click in some cases. That’s right, every time someone clicks your ad is could cost you that much. This is why you need to be extremely careful with your Adwords campaign and honestly it’s best if you leave it ( like your SEO) to people who have a thorough understanding of this.

Unfortunately, with Adwords the ROI can be quite low but if you want to be on Google, there is really no other immediate option.

FIVE:  Writing Great Website Copy & Blogs

Its great to have a great looking website. It’s fine to look as though you have spent a fortune getting it designed. But, what the user reads is going to be as important as the graphics. Web page copy has got to be sales focused and extremely relevant to your offering. Each individual web page must be professionally written if you have never done this before. Also, you need to start thinking about writing blogs. This is termed content marketing and is a great way of building the reach of your website with content.

PLUS great web copy, top graphics, clear calls to action and easy site logic with radically improve your customer conversion rates. Similar to what I am dong with the blog at Hooping Mad Designs, you should be doing as well. All blog articles will get indexed by Google and you really never ever know who will stumble across these and read them. Publish enough content and you will start to dominate your niche online. Read a few of my blogs and you should get where I’m coming from.

SIX:  PR can help drive traffic

This is really a no brainer. The more PR you do, the more people are going to get to know about your business. Anytime you have something important to say try to get this out to other more well known websites. Get them to publish an article about your news and this should get picked up by other bloggers and press agencies that will increase your exposure. Plus the more people that link organically back to your website, the better it is for your search engine rankings. This is a real WINNER and although this is somewhat difficult to do, especially for small business or people that have never done this before, it is really a great profile raiser. If unsure about the next steps here – please speak to us and we can organise your PR on a regular basis. This need not be as expensive as you think. We can come up with a cost effective PR campaign that will bring in web traffic

SEVEN:  Remarketing is a cool little idea

Imagine having and advert for your website follow browsers wherever they go online. Yes you are kinda stalking them but it serves as a gentle reminder that they have been on your website previously and you are still there if they need to engage or buy from you. These ads are now everywhere and they are quite a nifty little marketing tool that can be used in conjunction with your SEO / PPC campaign to further drive traffic to your website.

Whilst all these tips are great ideas, actually implementing these are another thing entirely. When it comes to anything to do with the online space; including Google, it can freak some people out. It is not hard and as a director of a marketing agency I , myself find that I am always having to do research and having to find the time to spend on social media and SEO. It’s really time consuming and even if you do spend days on this, it can all go pear shaped and give little return if you do it incorrectly.

I am not saying this to drum up business for Hopping mad, but I am saying this to help [people understand that the digital space is complex and there needs to be a game plan if you are going to make it work properly and see dividends. Al I can say is get professional advice and help before you start anything…especially with your SEO!
